This week was tough in terms of motivation. I keep think of Honey‘s “no excuses” — and realizing I’m pretty good at making excuses. But I didn’t entirely quit this whole exercise thing, which was really sounding good this week. So I guess that’s something! Honey and my other accountability gals have been super at encouraging me through emails and tweets, and Honey walked TEN MILES her first week!
This is me, walking…
One evening I walked with Ken and the Lacy the WonderDog, and it’s clear that I’m going to have to get her trained better, and probably get some other type of collar in order to be able to walk her on my own. She is just SO strong! It’s fine when we’re just walking, but if another dog or a SQUIRREL walks by, there’s no way I can physically restrain her.
I didn’t walk again until Friday morning, and I knew I’d need it for the stress factor of a super-busy weekend ahead. Last night we shot my niece’s wedding in Atlanta; this morning I have an audition for “Steel Magnolias” play, and we shoot another wedding this evening. Not sure if we’ll go to church Sunday morning, depending on how late tonight’s wedding goes, and then we’ll welcome Lindsey home from a week on choir tour, and attend her choir concert Sunday evening. {whew!}
I enjoy shooting weddings, but they wear me out. I always feel rather like a train ran over me. It’s surprising how many muscles are sore the next day, like my quads from squatting and my arms from lifting a heavy camera! And this is the first time we’ve had two weddings on consecutive days. So I don’t expect to walk Monday but maybe I’ll surprise myself.
How’d you do this week?

Yeah, I was doing so well early in the week! I did mostly running on Monday and Tuesday, then on Wednesday my neck and upper back felt pulled so Crusoe and I just walked 1 mile. Then I experienced REAL dehydration that pretty much had me in bed Thursday and Friday. So I haven’t done any exercise since Wednesday. We are heading to the zoo today for a while, so at least I’ll be active.
I’d say just gear back up for Tuesday and don’t beat yourself up. We all have glitches in our weeks. Yeah, they are excuses, but glitches none-the-less. We’re doing better than we were doing a couple of months ago, and that’s what counts.
Have a great (and busy) weekend!
I Amen everythin Nicole said above. We will have times when we are not going to do as much as we would have liked or should have, but we CAN NOT QUIT. We must just pick up the following week and carry on.
I have not gotten to walk for two weeks now, other than my normal walking of house work, etc. due to going to Youth Camp, which turned in to a trip to the hospital, and then coming home this week to take care of my son. I did get in a little stretchs, arm rolls, and sit ups, not every day though. I slacked this week. I hope to get back on track starting Monday.
Praying for all of us to keep on.

I did better this week, walking twice of the 3 I’m aiming for, which has not yet been achieved… better than last weeks zero LOL
One thing I’ve noticed in the last couple of days is that THIS accountability is actually retraining my brain – which is the only way for long term success. I’m finding that I’m actively looking for the opportunity to take a walk. Like an addiction of sorts LOL
Looking forward to see how I go in this next week

Way to go on the walking! I’m very impressed (and only a little jealous!)
For the dog, I wanted to mention that we bought special halters on the recommendation of our vet, called The Gentle Leader, which works so well that I can walk both of our large retrievers simultaneously without being pulled off my feet. It’s designed so that if they try to pull, it steers them back into position somehow. One dog sulks when I put it on and the other loves it, but it works equally well with both.

Yes, we have one of those leads. Lacy hates it but it does work quite well. Maybe I can get her a bit more used to it so she won’t act totally traumatized when I put it on her!
Props to you for scheduling time for fitness in the first place! If you need justification for missing Monday–it sounds like working those weddings is quite the workout in themselves!
I’ve been excited to be playing tennis recently; the house we just moved into has a small park right behind our yard, including tennis courts! We’ve been walking our kids out there, where one “refs” from the stroller and the other runs his dumptruck full of tennis balls across the courts.

Today I actually started my workout plan. I’ll be going to the Y four days a week for 2 months for my daughter’s swim practice. I’m planning to workout each day. I made my first post about it today. http://ourhomeschoolreviews.blogspot.com/2011/06/new-summer-schedule.html

Hi Jamie,
I am so excited that I was able to inspire you to work through your excuses. I had to work through some of my own this week.
My post this week was hard to write as I had some of my own excuses to work through, but I really think that writing the weekly posts helps with accountability.
Thank you so much for your support in losing weight. I really appreciate it.
