25 Prayers for My Husband
Earlier in the year, I shared about my prayer binder. I keep lists of prayers for my children, for myself, for my husband, for friends, and so on. I found a few lists online that got me started, but I’m continually tweaking them to fit my own family more specifically. This week I rewrote my list of prayers for my husband, and I’m sharing because I thought it might be a good jumping-off place for some other wives, too. (I’ve compiled this from many different ones, and cannot remember all the sites I began with; sorry!)
I feel like I have to have a disclaimer because of the topics of some of these prayers: Most of these things are not struggles for Ken, but I pray them so that they do not become a problem, and for encouragement in the many things he is already doing well. It’s when we think we cannot stumble that we are most vulnerable; I don’t want to make that mistake.
This list of twenty-five prayers could easily become a prayer for each day of the month if you add five more personalized prayers for your husband on topics he may be dealing with at work, in your family or marriage, and so on.
25 Prayers for My Husband
I pray…
- that he continues to grow spiritually through the disciplines of Bible study, prayer, and quiet times. (Proverbs 4:23)
- that his relationship with God will bear much fruit in his life, and that he will be a man who seeks wisdom and understanding. (Proverbs 3:7, Psalm 112:1)
- that he would walk humbly with God, and would always be convicted quickly about any sin in his life. (Micah 6:8)
- that he will continue to grow as the leader of our family, and that God would be glorified in our marriage. (Ephesians 5:25-29)
- that he would have a teachable spirit and a servant’s heart, and that he will listen to God and desire to do His will. (Proverbs 15:33)
- that he would always look to the way of escape from any kind of temptation, and that he would rely on God to remain faithful to our marriage, and to God. (1 Corinthians 10:13)
- that he would safeguard his heart against inappropriate relationships with the opposite sex, and this heart would pure and undivided in his commitment to me and to our marriage. (Proverbs 6:23-25)
- that he would continue to be able to provide for our family, and that he will not become discouraged by doing work he does not enjoy.
- that money would never become a source of discord in our family, and that we would be wise in handling finances and in stewardship. (Luke 16:13)
- that the words he speaks will build our family, and reflect a heart of love. (Proverbs 18:21)
- that our physical intimacy would be a positive reflection of selfless love. (Song of Solomon 7:10)
- that the men in his life would encourage his accountability before God, and that he would be a godly influence on his friends and coworkers. (Proverbs 13:20, 27:17)
- that he would choose healthy foods and activities, and honor God by taking the best possible care of his body as the tabernacle of God. (1 Corinthians 6:19)
- for his strength — physically, emotionally, mentally, and spiritually. (Ephesians 3:16)
- for him to have wisdom and discernment in training/disciplining our children, and that You would enable him to love them unconditionally. (Ephesians 6:4)
- that he would always have an eternal perspective, and make the most of however much time he has in this life. (Ephesians 5:16)
- that he would always be a man of peace, who allows the Holy Spirit to lead his responses in all situations. (Romans 14:19)
- that he would have a balanced life in regards to work and play, and that he would submit his schedule to You. (Proverbs 16:9)
- for him to find favor with the Lord, but also with people he knows and interacts with. (Luke 2:52)
- that he would enjoy peace and refreshment in his relationship with the Lord. (Psalm 16:11)
- that he would always be courageous in his stand against evil and injustice, and that he will protect our family from Satan’s attacks. (Ephesians 6:13)
- that he would be a man of prayer, seeking God in purposeful ways. (1 Thessalonians 5:17)
- that he will serve God and others with pure motives, and that God would be glorified in everything he does. (Colossians 3:23-24)
- that he would offer all this dreams to the Lord, and pursue only those that bring God glory, and that count for eternity. (Jeremiah 29:11)
- that he will recognize the lies of the enemy in his life, and that he will always be guided by the Truth. (2 Corinthians 10:4-5)

This is beyond lovely and just what I needed! Thank you!
Thank you, things are pretty rockie in our relationship right now, God is working, but this what I really needed Thank you
Praying for our husbands is so important. I know I feel more loved and more secure knowing that my husband is praying for me. I use Power of a Praying Wife most often, but sometimes will do a novena {certain prayers over 9 days for a specific request}, which reminds me, now would be a good time to start another one! God bless you for praying for your husband.
I just happened to come across your blog. Thank you for this list. My husband has been unemployed since May 2010 and it has been hard. This gives me even more ways to pray for him that I hadn’t thought about. Thank you for this list.
I just recently got married to my childhood sweet heart. He was working for a temp agency, but they have not had any work for him. He trys so hard to gain employment and keep it, and it is just like when he gets the job something goes wrong. I know that God has something for him. Tonight I felt the need to pray for my husband and to keep him strong and encouraged. I just love this man
Hi Jennifer,
Its sad that you hubby has problems with jobs. read Malachi chapter 3 about tithe. whatever source of income you have, give a tenth of it to God has he commanded and He will take care of more sources of income in terms of a job for yo hubby. sometimes no matter how much we pray for a breakthrough in jobs or finances,if we do not tithe its like we are just wasting our time. be encouraged!
Thanks Jamie! This is great, I will definitely print this out.
Love this! I am making this a priority, why o why do I forget to always pray for my husband? Thank you for the reminder. He is a true gift from God!
What a wonderful post, thank you so much!!
Fabulous, Jamie. Thank you.
This is a great list. Thank you so much for sharing. I just recently started my own prayer journal, though right now it is not very organized.
Wonderful!
that was wonderful to find. I will print it out and be able to have more specific prayers for my husband, even though like yours, mine is not encumbered with many of the horrible vices men & women might have today, it is always a blessing to be praying for them daily and specifically. Thank you, Tana
I came across your prayer list on Pintrest and wanted to say thank you so much!

Tami

These are wonderful! I prayed through Power of a Praying Wife in June. Now I’m going to go through these for this month. Thank you so much for putting this together.
Husband and I were married 4 months ago. I have felt myself leaning on him instead of leaning on Christ. Thank you for these prayers that I can now pray intentionally for him, and for myself as meaning for him. What a blessing to find.
i LOVE this may I share on my blog – giving you credit if course!!!
Feel free to use an excerpt and link to me! 🙂
THANK YOU for sharing this list! What a blessing to stumble upon it at a time when I really need to pray for my husband. You are so right in saying that we are most vulnerable when we think we can’t stumble.
I found you through Pinterest, of course. 🙂
I want to start praying these for my future husband. I pray for him often, but I love that this list helps me pray so specifically. Do you have any tips on HOW I should pray these? One every day? Several a day? I would love some input!
Nicole,
I usually just pray a few each day. Sometimes I start with the first 2 or 3, then do the next 2 or 3 the following day, etc. Or if I know my husband is dealing with something in particular, I’ll skip to a prayer that covers that topic. It’s really just a great jumping-off place so that I always have something I pray for him.
Glad you found me, and hope you come back to visit! 😉
Amazing. Prayer is powerful and God is teaching me more about that every day… especially SPECIFIC prayers. This list is wonderful… I am going to be praying them for my husband.
Blessings, Dana
I absolutely cherish this post. I linked to you in my blog as a I stated your 25 prayers! Thank you for sharing!

Do you have a list of prayers for a father? This was such a wonderful gift!!
Kelly – I don’t, but I think you could probably reword the majority of these to pray for a father, as most are just about being a godly man. Thanks for the suggestion, and I’ll see if I can work on something like this!

I’m new to your blog. This list is such a beautiful gift to your husband. Thank you for sharing it.
Thank you – and you’re welcome! 🙂
Thank you!! This is great. I find that it’s a challenge to pray for my husband, just knowing what to pray and having a list for anything is so helpful for me. I do that same thing with my kids, I’ve written lists for them and scriptures, but I need to be praying more for my husband!! Blessings-
You are very welcome, Annie! I hope the list is a blessing to you! Thanks for taking time to leave a comment as well! 🙂
