Growing up, I never imagined a family anything like the one I have. I’ve since learned that God often has bigger and better plans than anything we can dream up. So… a little about these people I adore:
My Husband
In March of 2005, I married the man I plan to grow old with. Ken is my best friend, my encourager, and my shoulder to lean on. His kisses still make me weak in the knees, and he’s pretty handy around the house, too! Perhaps most importantly for this often too-serious gal, he makes life fun.

My step-son Brandon recently earned his degree in music education and is on the hunt for a job as a school band director. Last summer, he gave us a daughter-in-law! I adore Diane, and we are delighted they live nearby so we can see them often.
Lindsey {age 18}
Lindsey joined our family through adoption via our state foster care system. We met her in June 2009, and finalized her adoption that December, just a few weeks before her 15th birthday. Lindsey will soon become the first child I’ve graduated from homeschool!
Kathryn {age 12}
Kathryn is often wise beyond her years, and has a wonderful imagination fueled by the many books she reads. She loves animals, and hopes we’ll have a farm someday. I’m proud of how she has embraced her new role as big sister. Visit her blog, too.

Scout {age 5}
This girl is one smart cookie, and I’m realizing there’s not much I could sneak by her even if I tried. Scout has a mischievous side, but loves to be a helper. Next year, she’ll join the homeschooling fun!
Jem {age 4}
He is all rough and tumble boy, but Jem gives big hugs and has a contagious belly laugh. He adores anything with wheels (trains, cars, motorcycles, tractors), and I have a feeling his sense of humor is going to keep us laughing in the years to come.
And… the Dog!

Our WonderDog {age 6} is a rescued greyhound mutt who brings a whole lot of laughter and love into our lives. For us, a house just isn’t home without the pitter-patter of doggie feet.
