Week-end: links & life {vol. 28}
“We do not remember days, we remember moments.” -Cesare Pavese
One of the highlights of my week (technically last week) was taking Diane to a [VERY] belated birthday lunch at our favorite tearoom. Would you look at that adorable baby bump!? I had to make sure to get it in our selfie!
from around the web
- DIY washi tape keyboard :: Prettify a boring computer with this tutorial by Kathryn.
- Summer Sensory bins :: A great variety of fun summery ideas.
- How to host a book exchange party :: This party is right up my alley!
- All-natural homemade bug spray recipes :: Skeeters love me. I hate weird chemicals. So I’ll be trying a variety of natural bug repellants. (Have a favorite recipe? Please share!)
- 8 Reasons to Reduce Your Mobile Dependency :: #8 is my fave.
on the blog (in case you missed it):
- Using Apologia’s Marine Biology in a relaxed homeschool :: Finally, a review of our favorite curriculum, with resources we added to Kathryn’s studies.
right here at home
So, let’s see. What the heck did we do this week? It feels like so much and nothing at all, simultaneously. Ever have weeks like that?
Kathryn is away at the beach again, but this time with her dad.
I’ve been reading and loving The Best Yes. I borrowed it from the library but it’s SO GOOD I’m going to have to buy my own copy to own and love and return to repeatedly.
My little hydrangea, a birthday gift a few years ago from my cousin-friend Jonnia, is bedecked with lovely blue blossoms.
I was chosen as part of the Fair Trade Friday blogging team!!!
I’m thrilled because this organization is one I’m happy to support and delighted to promote. In case you’re not familiar with it, Fair Trade Friday is an avenue for women to empower women, tackling poverty through job opportunities and empowerment rather than enablement. Fair Trade Friday artisans make absolutely beautiful products and 100% of proceeds goes to support these artisans. Good stuff!
I did a chin-up!!! {Here’s proof!}
This was huge for me because it was one of my life goals that, until just a few months ago, always felt like something I’d never accomplish. I have a long way to go in form, but still, I did it!

This sounds so refreshing. #1. I could never do a chin up. Congratulations! #2. LOVE the hydrangea! My fave. flower! #3. Now I want to read The Best Yes too.
Aren’t hydrangeas awesome? And yes, I highly recommend that book.
As the for the chin up, I never thought I could never do one either – but I did, after a whole lot of practice! 😉
