Week-end: links & life {vol. 39}
“Under certain circumstances there are few hours in life more agreeable than the hour dedicated to the ceremony known as afternoon tea.” – Henry James, The Portrait of a Lady, 1880
After 10 or so years of daily use, my old electric tea kettle finally began a slow demise. It worked hard and had a good life. So I bought the updated version of the same thing. {See me? It’s a tea kettle selfie!}
from around the web
- Why you don’t feel like cooking tonight, and how to fix it :: This is me most nights. Good suggestions.
- A Suspended Treehouse to sleep with the birds :: I want one!!! It could be my little introvert haven. Especially if it was near the beach (or a waterfall or river) while nestled in with a stack of good books.
- How I became a non-sporty person who hated exercise :: I pretty much could’ve written this because Jimmie’s experiences were very much like mine. This is the first in her her mini-series on personal fitness.
- Why do we daydream? :: Giving ourselves permission to allowing our minds to wander can increase our creativity, problem-solving, working memory, and even our social skills.
- DIY Coffee Ground bombs for your sink :: I’ve always like the way coffee smells better than the way it tastes; wonder if this sink-cleaner would leave my kitchen smelling like coffee?
on the blog:
- Introversion is not a social disorder :: I once almost believed my introversion was a social disorder. It took years to understand that being an introvert is a strength, not a weakness.
right here at home
Enrichment classes started, including kids’ choir and other church activities. All three kids are taking Choi Kwang Do together, plus other classes individually. We’ll ease into other subjects next week.
It’s hard to turn pages with a dog in my lap. Yes, Daisy is still as awesome as always, but Piper is my constant shadow so she shows up in photos more often.
Do Ken and I look ready for grand-parenthood? We’re eagerly waiting on grandbaby Carter to make his appearance. Although I’ve put in my request for him to go ahead and show up next week, I’m not complaining because Diane and the baby are doing great and she’s feeling as good as an almost 39-week pregnant woman can. {Prayers appreciated for his safe arrival, whenever he’s ready.}
*Linking up with Kris’s weekly wrap-up.
Wife, mom, J-ma. Introvert who enjoys good books, sunshine, and authentic conversation. Often seen with a steaming mug of tea in hand – unless it’s lost yet again in the microwave. Read more »
I can’t believe it’s time for Baby Carter already! From this side of the computer the time seems to have flown by. I’m sure Diane would not agree. Those last few weeks are the worst. Praying for a healthy delivery for mom and baby.
I know, right?! Seems fairly quick from my side, too, but yes, those last couple of weeks turn into some weird time warp! Thanks for the prayers!!
Love the tea kettle selfie (and perfect quote!). If my kettle dies, it will certainly get replaced too – such a good friend…
Happy to meet another self-admitting introvert. Not a bad thing at all. 🙂
Have a beautiful weekend.
Yes, I appreciate all my appliances but my kettle is the only one I call a friend. 😉 Happy to have you visit, fellow introvert!
