Life lately: June highlights
“Life is worth living as long as there’s a laugh in it.”

Biggest thing this month: Lindsey’s wedding and having ALL the kids and grandkids here visiting! This photo is my favorite ever of our crazy family.
happenings & homeschooling
It was a lot of work getting ready for the wedding, but our front porch has never looked so good and the weather cooperated beautifully. Funny, because it rained every day for a week after they all left!
Grandkids are fun. I adore these little people! We’ve got 4 under the age of three, with a 5th due this fall. I look forward to when they’re a few years older and come stay with us for “grandkid camp” every summer. (I’m already planning to sleep a solid week before and after!)
With Scout out of school for the summer, and with all the other excitement this month, we have done very little schooling other than a little online math for Jem sprinkled in here and there. However, I have been doing homeschool planning, and that involves high school planning meetings with Kathryn. We make it fun, which means we add coffee and laughter.
Oh, and I had a birthday!
what we’ve been reading
Our library does a monthly used book sale AND has a booth at the farmer’s market with a bunch of great paperbacks for just $1 each. So much happy! We still haven’t installed our little free library but we’ll have plenty of books to stock it as soon as we do!
My faves this month:
The Samurai’s Garden by Gail Tsukiyama;
March by Geraldine Brooks (currently $2 on kindle);
and a ridiculous stack waiting to be read.
Kathryn (age 16):
The Book Thief by Marcus Zuzak (a re-read);
Cinder by Marissa Meyer.
Honestly, we’ve had so much going on I haven’t been doing read-alouds, but I’ll soon be reorganizing my bookshelves and planning ahead for the school year.

I’ll be linking with iHN’s Homeschool Mother’s Journal, and Kris’ weekly wrap-up.

Thank you for he discount price on March! I have been wanting to read it so purchased it for a trip I’m taking tomorrow.
Yay! I hope you enjoy it!
